Firms urged to score for charity

Published: 06 Jan 2009 Football enthusiasts and team players across the country are being urged to pull on their boots and brush up their skills as Nottingham solicitors Fraser Brown launches its inaugural charity football tournament.

The firm is on a quest to enrol more corporate teams for its event in a bid to raise £5000 for Nottinghamshire Hospice. Twelve teams have already signed up for what is sure to be a fun filled evening, where work worries can be forgotten and all that matters is what happens on the pitch.

The tournament will be held on April 1st, but organiser John Tansur is keen to get supporters signed up early. He said, “Places are limited to 32 teams so please register as soon as you can! Fraser Brown regularly play matches against a number of East Midlands based companies and have found it a great way to build working relationships. The real aim of the evening is to raise money for the Hospice but you may walk away with some new business.

“The date coincides with England’s 2010 World Cup Qualifier against Ukraine and the game will be screened during the tournament offering a chance for everyone to relax with a drink or two and watch the match.”

Nottinghamshire Hospice is Fraser Brown’s nominated charity and the company has already raised almost £5,000 through various activities and events. Established in 1980, Nottinghamshire Hospice is the only voluntary hospice in Nottingham. People suffering from life-limiting diseases are cared for both through the hospice’s day care service and by the support of patients in their home environment. The charity needs £1.8 million in order to provide its service each year, most of this coming from donations and only 20% coming from statutory services.

The football tournament is being held at The University of Nottingham’s Sports Centre, where the games will kick off at 6.15pm. Entrance fees are £150 per 8-man team, with proceeds going to the Hospice. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and food and drinks for the teams will be provided. To enrol a team please contact John Tansur on 0115 9888 777 or email jtansur@fraserbrown.com.
