Solicitors help serve up new pub

Published: 02 Mar 2009

Fraser Brown Solicitors has helped the multi award winning gastro-pub operator The Moleface Pub Company expand its chain of pub-restaurants into Wollaton.

The Wollaton Pub & Kitchen, which formerly traded as The Willoughby Arms, is due to open on Lambourne Drive at the beginning of March and will be the company’s third venue in the city. It is hoped it will follow in the highly successful footsteps of the Larwood & Voce in West Bridgford and The Lord Nelson in Burton Joyce.

The lease on the property was handled by Peter Thornley and Graham Green from Fraser Brown’s Commercial Property team, who have a longstanding relationship with The Moleface Pub Company and an excellent reputation for working closely with licensed premises. The pub is owned by national operator Punch Taverns and Moleface were asked to take on the premises following the success of The Larwood and Voce which is also a Punch lease.

Matt Cullen, Director at The Moleface Pub Company, said, “At the moment we’re working on a full refurbishment of the premises, which will give The Wollaton a new lease of life, in a similar style to the works we undertook at both the Larwood and Voce and The Lord Nelson. This has proved to be very successful, in terms of the recognition we gained last year both within the national press and at the Nottingham Restaurant Awards and the trading figures we’re seeing currently.

“Although some people would say that now isn’t a great time to be launching a pub, or any business for that matter, we’re finding that people are still willing to spend on good quality sensibly priced food and drink and we’re looking forward to offering this in Wollaton.”

Peter Thornley, Managing Partner at Fraser Brown, added, “We have a longstanding relationship with The Moleface Pub Company and have watched the growth of the business with great interest. Their success shows that there are still plenty of opportunities out there for people with enthusiasm, dedication and a good business plan.”
