Firms across the county are practising their penalties and fine tuning their free-kicks as more and more sign up for Fraser Brown’s charity football tournament, in aid of Nottinghamshire Hospice.
Greenhalgh & Co, the Nottingham based chartered accountants and business advisors, is the latest team to register for the inaugural event and Lynette Stainforth, Marketing Manager at Greenhalgh & Co says they were keen to lend their support.
“The tournament is a great opportunity for us to have some fun as a firm whilst raising money for a local charity which is close to our hearts. Since signing up there’s definitely been a competitive spirit around the office and I know there will be plenty of practising going on to make sure our team comes out on top!”
Fraser Brown is now urging more businesses to get involved in the event on 1 April, to help reach the £5,000 fundraising target for Nottinghamshire Hospice. Mo Beeres at the hospice said: “We are really grateful for all of Fraser Brown’s hard work and enthusiasm; we rely on fundraising like this to be able to continue our vital work. The football tournament promises to be fun filled night, and I’m sure there will be lots of people reliving their dreams of a premiership career!”
Although the tournament will be held on 1 April, organiser John Tansur is keen to get supporters signed up early in order to raise as much money as possible and ensure a successful night for everyone involved. He said, “Places are limited so please do sign up as soon as you can. We know from experience that events such as this are a great way to build relationships both within a company and externally. The real aim of the evening is to raise money for the Hospice but you may walk away with some new business as well.”
Nottinghamshire Hospice is Fraser Brown’s nominated charity and the company has already raised almost £5,000 through various activities and events. Established in 1980, Nottinghamshire Hospice is the only voluntary hospice in Nottingham. People suffering from life-limiting diseases are cared for both through the hospice’s day care service and by the support of patients in their home environment. The charity needs £1.8 million in order to provide its service each year, most of this coming from donations and only 20% coming from statutory services.
The football tournament is being held at The University of Nottingham’s Sports Centre on 1 April and games will kick off at 6.15pm. Entrance fees are £150 per 8-man team, with proceeds going to the Hospice. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and food and drinks for the teams will be provided.
