Will drafting

A well drafted will is essential to ensure that on your death, your wishes are carried out. We can advise on all aspects of will drafting and prepare a suitable will for you.

Estate planning and administration

Alongside an appropriate will estate planning ensures that not only do your assets go to whom you intended, but that this is done in the most tax efficient way by looking at your estate and intentions advice can be given to achieve your aims.

When somebody has died their estate will need to be administered. The course of action depends very much on the circumstances but we can give tailored advice to ensure all matters are dealt with and the estate administered correctly.

Creation of trusts and administration

Trusts are a useful tool for tax and estate planning. We can advise and assist in the setting up of a trust and its continued administration.

Court of protection

When somebody is unable to manage through a loss of capacity it may be necessary to apply to the Court of Protection for a deputy to be appointed to act on their behalf or for a specific order relating to their property or medical treatment. We can advise on such applications.

Powers of attorney

A power of attorney appoints someone to act on your behalf. This can either be for a specific action such as selling a house or for a specific time period (for example whilst you are on holiday). A Lasting Power of Attorney will enable somebody to act on your behalf if you ever lose the capacity to act yourself.

Inheritance tax planning

We can advise on inheritance tax and suitable actions to reduce or limit your exposure to this tax. Advice is tailored to your circumstances to ensure an appropriate response.

Capital gains, income tax and tax returns

We can advise on the impact of tax in respect of transactions and ways to reduce any liability. We can also deal with your tax affairs generally including filing returns on your behalf.
