Distance selling laws

A recent investigation by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has found that 62 of the UK’s top 100 online retail brands are not complying with distance selling laws.

Some of the main concerns in the findings are that 60% of sites did not provide an email address as a contact, and 33% of sites imposed unreasonable restrictions on customers’ rights to a refund, such as requiring the product to be in the original packaging.

The commercial department at Fraser Brown can advise on all contracts and terms and conditions for websites, including e-commerce, data protection and security, cookie policies, confidentiality agreements and much more.

To ensure you are complying with internet and e-commerce laws, contact us and we can look over any policies and agreements and help you draft terms and conditions to protect yourself and your business.
