Flood support guidance is published

Richard Wollacott

The government has published guidance informing local authorities, businesses and homeowners of schemes intended to help those who have been affected by flooding since 1 December 2013 to recover.

The eligibility criteria will be set out and guidance will be given to local authorities who will be responsible for administering the schemes in their areas. This only applies to England currently.

The grants and schemes available include:

-         Business rates flooding relief

-         A business support scheme which provides financial support to pay for work that improves a property’s ability to withstand future flooding

-         Funding of up to £4m in support of council tax discounts for homes that have been flooded. It is up to local authorities to decide whether to use this power, on an individual basis.
