Fraser Brown Solicitors raised an impressive sum of £11,500 for Children’s Bereavement Centre, a Newark-based charity that supports children and young people affected by terminal illness, death, divorce or separation of someone close. The cheque was officially handed over to Caroline Froggatt, the charity’s representative and Corporate and Community Engagement Coordinator by Patrick Wood, Fraser Brown’s Managing Partner.
The money was raised throughout 2015 through various initiatives that Fraser Brown’s staff organised or were involved in, including golf days, bake-offs, tournaments, charity dinners and other client events.
The city-centre-based firm chooses a charity it supports over a course of 12 months at the beginning of each year. Fraser Brown’s staff nominated Children’s Bereavement Centre its Charity of the Year 2015 as they were moved by the organisation’s commitment to support youngsters and their families as they go through various traumatic and distressing experiences. The raised sum will be spent to fund one-to-one bereavement support for children, pre-bereavement support for families affected by terminal illness, play therapies and sessions, telephone and peer support as well as training programmes for schools, professional organisations and volunteers.
Caroline Froggatt from Children’s Bereavement Centre said: “I am deeply moved by the generosity of Fraser Brown’s staff and the support they gave us in 2015. We cannot thank them enough for their generous donation and for the time their staff spent raising this sum. Although it is a natural part of life, the loss of someone close can be a distressing and overwhelming experience, especially for children and young people. The collected money with allow us to help even more children and young people needing our support and for this we are extremely grateful”.
Patrick Wood, Managing Partner at Fraser Brown commented: “We are delighted that we have been able to raise this great amount for such a worthwhile charity. It’s reassuring to know that the collected sum will help numerous children as they go through the hardship of losing their loved ones and we are proud that through our efforts they can receive the support and guidance they need”.
