Fraser Brown serves up a 24 hour licence for dominos in saturation zone

AKS Partners Limited is a multi site franchisee which operates a large number of Dominos stores in England and Wales. Fraser Brown has secured a 24 hour licence to help a Chester branch serve more customers.

As part of its expansion plans, the company recently opened a new store at 96 Foregate Street - a busy city centre location in Chester - and in the heart of the local council’s saturation zone.

To grow the business and to meet customer demand, it was necessary to apply for a premises licence for late night refreshment to give the premises flexibility to provide a 24 hour service. Without a premises licence the business could only operate between 5.00am and 11.00pm.

However, the police were concerned that the grant of this application would add to the cumulative impact already being experienced as a result of the number of licensed premises in the area and that the extended hours would have a detrimental effect.

Walaiti Rathore, a licensing specialist at Fraser Brown, worked with the AKS Partners Limited to obtain a premises Licence to allow the store to operate between 5.00am and 3.00am the following morning and a 24 hour delivery service.

Walaiti said: “It was always going to be a real challenge to obtain a Premises Licence for these hours as the premises are located within Cheshire West and Chester Council’s saturation zone and in an area where the police expressed strong concerns about existing crime and disorder.

“The key was to meet with the police to discuss and address the concerns and agree a proposal which allowed them to support these hours in a saturation zone which is very rare. This case is an excellent example of the parties working in partnership even in the most challenging circumstances and achieving a result that they can all work with.”

Shayban Ibrahim, a director of AKS Partners Limited, said: “Walaiti and Fraser Brown were recommended to us by other franchisees and we are pleased that we consulted the firm to assist us with this application. We look forward to working with them again in relation to our other sites and new acquisitions.”
