New creative business hub opens in Nottingham

Two sisters from Nottingham have worked together to transform a derelict Victorian lace mill in Carrington into a multi-purpose business centre. After two years in the making, Business HQ has opened its doors to Nottingham’s vibrant professional community.

Business HQ offer co-working spaces, a virtual office system, a meeting room that seats 16, communal areas, and fully serviced private offices that accommodate teams of up to 20. The facilities cater to a number of business needs and structures.

The building on Oak Street dates back to 1882, with traces of its industrial history scattered throughout its design.

Sisters Kim and Alex Gammon have taken charge of the project:

 “There is a real demand in Nottingham for flexible and high-end office spaces. With my background in graphic design, I envisioned a creative space that worked for freelancers and businesses alike. This has really come to life in what you can see around you,” says Kim Gammon, Executive Manager at Business HQ ltd.  

Furnishings in communal areas, such as the original trap doors set as tables and framed with bright velvet seating, example some of the contrasts that add to the workspaces charm, incorporating contemporary design to give the space an artistic edge.

“We are also talking with the Creative Quarter in Nottingham to make the centre a hive for budding professionals, and the mailbox service allows people to work independently, with the communal and meeting areas lending space for exchange and innovation,” explains Kim.

 “Working with Fraser Brown Solicitors has really eased the process of pulling together what could have been a very complicated project. The team are supportive, committed and a pleasure to work with.”

Local law firm Fraser Brown supported Business HQ, which falls under the umbrella of RCS Filling Machines Ltd, with the acquisition of the properties. The team also secured a loan on behalf of the business from Barclays to help assist with the renovation costs. 

The offices on the top floor of the business centre range from £560 to £815 per month, with Co-Working Memberships standing at £250 a month. These memberships allow for 24-hour access to co-working space, kitchen facilities, breakout areas and a courtyard.

Businesses can also choose to rent the meeting room at Business HQ, which features a conference screen, super-fast wi-fi and refreshments for £22 per hour or £145 a day.
