Data Protection, Security and Freedom of Information
Data protection laws regulate how companies collect, store and use personal data. Customers are entitled to know what information is being held and how it will be used. This is an important issue for businesses to consider and they cannot afford to ignore it, with the Information Commissioner having the power to fine up to £500,000 for the most serious cases.
The Freedom of Information Act gives anyone the right to request information from any public sector organisation. This includes schools, universities, hospitals, police, local councils and government departments. If you receive a request and either ignore it or fail to provide the information, the Information Commissioner’s Office may issue a heavy fine.
We can work with you to draft in-depth policies and advise you on the steps to take to make sure you are fully compliant.
