Arwen Makin

Senior Associate, Licensing

Arwen is a Senior Associate in the Licensing Team.

She specialises in all aspects of licensing, gambling issues and applications. She provides professional advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of licensing appeals, licensing prosecutions and related regulatory work. She also has experience in planning applications for the hospitality sector.  She regularly deals with Premises Licences, Personal Licences, Club Premises Certificates and Temporary Events Notices.

Arwen qualified in 2002, and is a Solicitor-Advocate with higher rights of audience and considerable advocacy experience, having conducted numerous cases in both the criminal courts and employment tribunals. Due to her diverse experience she is ideally placed to give advice in relation to professional conduct and regulatory matters. She also regularly presents at seminars and training events.

She also has extensive employment law experience, having advised both employers and employees on a wide range of employment issues. Prior to joining Fraser Brown in 2016 she previously worked for a number of years providing advice and representation to both trade unions and their members, and has a particular expertise in the education sector.

Arwen is based at our Nottingham office. She is a Personal Licence Holder, and a member of the Institute of licensing.  In her spare time she makes full use of her CAMRA membership, supporting real ale establishments in Nottingham. She balances this with a love of running marathons!
