New Process Will Speed Up Compensation Claims
Most compensation claims arise out of road accidents where the amount of compensation is less than £10,000. From May 1st a new process is in place which is designed to speed up the system under which that compensation is paid. Geoff Buck, Personal Injury Solicitor at Fraser Brown says that the new system brings significant benefits for blameless road accident victims.
The new system provides a streamlined process. Solicitors and Insurers will exchange information electronically and this together with the fact that there are now tighter time limits should see claims being settled much more quickly than before. For example previously insurers could take up to three months to say whether they accepted liability for the accident. Now they will have to admit liability within 15 days or lose the benefits to them of having the claim dealt with through the new process. That and other changes inevitably mean that compensation will be paid more quickly than before.
However, even where liability is straightforward accident victims should take legal advice as to the amount of compensation they are entitled to. Some Insurers will tell accident victims that they don"t need a Solicitor but I have come across cases where the amount of compensation which the Insurers have offered is well below what the accident victim should receive. If you"ve got a good case a Solicitor will take the case on a "no win, no fee" basis" and be paid by the Insurers if the case succeeds. Accident victims can get the advice which they need without it costing them anything.
Fraser Brown have offices in Bingham, Radcliffe-on-Trent and Nottingham and offer a free first interview and "no win, no fee" arrangements in all types of injury cases. Geoff Buck can be contacted on 0115-9471528.
