Trustee Issues

It is the trustees who carry ultimate responsibility for the work of their organisation and we tailor our advice to suit their role and challenges. We work with you to pre-empt any potential difficulties and should any issues arise, we can help you resolve these efficiently.

To be a trustee you must be over 18 (16 if the charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)).

You are disqualified by law from acting as a charity trustee if you:

-          have an unspent conviction for an offence involving dishonesty or deception

-          are currently declared bankrupt (or subject to bankruptcy restrictions or an interim order) or has an individual voluntary arrangement with creditors (IVA)

-          are disqualified from being a company director

-          have previously been removed as a trustee by the Charity Commission or the High Court due to misconduct or mismanagement.
